The project “We Won’t
Accept Hunger!’’ financed by the European Union started in May 2011. The
overall objective is to build public support against hunger and poverty (in support to the Millenium Development
Goals agenda) and for better integration of development cooperation objectives
into all EU policies. Partners of the project are the branches of ActionAid in
Italy and Greece, Peuples Solidaires (France), NiZA (the Netherlands) and
Ekvilib Institute (Slovenia).
Duration: 2011-2014
Main objective
- Motivate and support
people interested in problematics of hunger in the world to become the “Ambassadors
of the Right to Food“ (further “ambassadors“) – to take part on public
awareness raising campaigns (such as Czechia against Poverty Campaign) or to
organise own campaigns
- Improve awareness of the Czech
public, media and policymakers about the issue of first Millennium
Development Goal and the importance of small farmers
Main activities and outcomes
- Information materials, cartoon, press releases and articles concerning food
safety, causes and possible solutions of world hunger
- Training of ambassadors, who will actively
participate in the campaign, and
train others about the topic of hunger
- Training manual containing information on the topic of hunger, campaigning strategy,
communication with the public, media,
policy makers and training other people
- Participation of ambassadors on Action Days
of the Czechia against Poverty campaign and other awareness raising activities
- Own awareness raising actions of ambassadors – seminars, workshops, exhibitions, etc.
- Own experience in a developing country for selected ambassadors
- Formulation of appeals and suggestions for improving legislation, delivery of this
document to the Czech policy makers
