Glopolis is a non-partisan, non-governmental organization which focuses on the analysis of economic globalization, trade, development, agriculture and climate change.

Project Human Rights and Gender Aspect in Development

The project aims at raising awareness and increasing knowledge in Visegrad countries about the relation between human rights and development programmesin poor countries through introducing the Human Rights-based approach(HRBA) to facilitate exchange, cooperation and networking between State structures, academics and NGOs while strengthening their expertise and skillsin an area which tends to be left out of the priorities of the Visegrad region.

Duration: January – June 2012

Planned activities

  • one-day international conference in Prague with respected experts and representatives from partner organizations for at least 30 participants with the aim to enhance the debate between policy makers and representatives from the NGO sector, deepen the knowledge of the HRBA concept andfostercapacities analytical skills of the participants;
  • 10-page policy paper reflecting the project topics with recommendations for policy makers and development stakeholders; the policy paper will be issued in English, Czech and Polish and each language will be printed in 250 copies;
  • 2 meetings with farmers in South Poland about food security and food sovereignty issues; results to be presented during the conference;
  • survey on women rights violation within the Roma community in Kecerovce (Slovakia).
