In cooperation with the Information Centre of the UN, the analytical centre Glopolis is organizing a seminar entitled “Biofuels: opportunity or risk for the climate, the Czech Republic, or developing countries?”. The seminar is aimed at a wide spectrum of the general public, experts in the given field, civil society, and public administration. The seminar will introduce you to the issues surrounding biofuels – from EU policies, to an energy, economic, and ecological assessment, to the effects of biofuel production on developing countries.

Do biofuels contribute to lowering levels of greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere? Can they improve energy security and sovereignty in Europe? What is the impact of the increasing scale of production on the lives of those living in poor nations?

Coming to answer these and other questions are

  • Ladislav Jelínek and Tomáš Medonos, Institute of Agricultural Economics and Information;
  • Jan Rovenský, Greenpeace CZ;
  • Sylvain Aubry, FIAN and independent consultant;
  • Jiří Trnka, CZ Biom.

The seminar will be held in Czech and English. Interpreting is provided.
